Blake Thorne of the Flint Journal recently covered some unique research going on in Kettering’s Crash Test Lab:
Kettering’s Crash Safety Center is putting to work a research grant from Hyundai-Kia, studying the effects of side-impact crashes on small passengers and children in back seats.
It’s among the most deadly types of crashes, said Janet Brelin-Fornari, director for the Crash Safety Center and a mechanical engineering professor.
“Side impact has the most fatalities to children out of all the impact (crashes),” said Brelin-Fornari, who is working as co- principle investigator on the research.
