1962 graduate awarded

Robert L. Mott (GMI/Kettering University graduate of 1962) has been named the recipient of the 2012 SME Education Award by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. The award, to be granted in June 2012 at the SME Annual Conference in Cleveland, Ohio, is one of seven national society awards granted by SME annually. The award description reads:

“Presented to an educator most respected for the development of manufacturing-related curricula, fostering sound training methods or inspiring students to enter the profession of manufacturing.”

Mr. Mott also sends this update:

I have been involved in engineering education since 1966, spending most of my career on the faculty of the University of Dayton, from which I retired in 2001. I am also the author of four textbooks (listed below) that serve undergraduate engineering education, all published by Pearson/Prentice-Hall Publishing Company, Upper Saddle River, NJ:

  • Applied Strength of Materials, 5th edition, 2008
  • Machine Elements in Mechanical Design, 5th edition 2012 (In production editing)
